Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Delhi becomes the first notable educational institution in India to issue guidelines regarding use of Artificial Intelligence (AI) for students and faculty. IIT Delhi urged its students and staff to disclose the information when AI tools are utilized.
IIT Delhi’s instructions regarding use of AI assumes significance, as debate on usage of AI tools in academics is going on at a furious pace.
There has been a serious debate over whether students can use AI tools to finish their assignments and other academic tasks. The same question is also being raised in case of teachers and lecturers using AI tools. Many have been puzzling whether teachers and professors can use AI tools in fulfilling their academic responsibilities.
Now, setting a precedent, IIT Delhi issued guidelines on AI usage.
IIT Delhi leadership urged students and teaching faculty to clearly disclose, wherever AI tools are used. It also urged them to be cautious while giving prompts and inputs to AI tools, stressing not to compromise on online safety and privacy.
